You wouldn't be here if you weren't curious.*

Hi! I'm Elena! Welcome to my travel blog Creativelena.com.
For me, it is all about “life-seeing instead of sightseeing”: Join me as I create, eat & live my way around the world. Curious?

*Check out my book, “The Creative Traveler’s Handbook”, for learning more about what we mean by creative travel. Travelling means the world to me, makes me fit for everday life and sometimes, I trust, also calmer on the inside. Read this blog with a smile, share what you love and remember to check back regularly: After all, when was the last time you did something for the first time?

Take a soothing ( #babymoon !) day spa trip to “Therme Wien”, Vienna’s local spa favourite: Easy and accessible alike.

One last trip into the “adult area” of the Vienna Spa “Therme Wien”. One last time of undisturbed snoozing, of reading magazines, of lolling around on your spa chair. One last day spa as a couple. The notion of taking a final break before a totally different routine is especially attractive to us as expectant parents. We were lucky to head to “Therme Wien” on a relatively quiet Saturday in the off-season (beginning of April) and enjoy a relatively undisturbed environment for a capital city spa. I can only recommend “Therme Wien” great value for money deal “RelaxTagesUrlaub“: At € 85,- admission per person, you receive lots of goodies and access to an exclusive rest area, which quickly makes up for the daily admission fee.

Die Therme Wien im Kurpark Oberlaa: Gerade jetzt im (ruhigen) Frühjahr einen Besuch wert.

The Vienna Capital Spa, “Therme Wien”, is located at “Kurpark Oberlaa”: A trip in the early spring has flowers greeting you, and the warm soothing spa waters are great still against the cool outside temperatures.

Modern, cosy, and surprisingly quiet for a spa just nearby a busy capital city: We’ve loved our day trip here.

If you can, make your way on public transport: U1 “Oberlaa”, at only a few stops from the city centre of Vienna.

Where exactly in Vienna is the “Therme Wien” located? On this map, you will find it on the outskirts of the city: In the southeast of Vienna, right by the green lungs of the “Kurpark Oberlaa” and on the border with the adjoining province of Lower Austria. Only the airplanes, occasionally appearing in the sky, remind you that the big city is not far after all.

Since my sweetheart and I live at the other end of the underground line U1, our journey to the “Therme Wien” takes us just half an hour. Wow! We are really surprised at just how fast we get there. After receiving our tickets, we get access to our own changing rooms for the day included in our “RelaxTagesUrlaub” (super practical for families with lots of “stuff”, I already think ahead ..!) then continue VIP-like to the RelaxLounge on the first floor, located right above the thermal water pools with probably the best view over the entire spa landscape.

From the underground station to the spa : Less than a minute’s walk …

… and across the thermal spa pools.

Yum: Um 11.00 Uhr wird pünktlich der erste Vormittags-Snack serviert ...

Yum: At 11.00 a.m., the first snack of the day is served …

… and in the afternoon, it’s tea/coffee and cake time (plus lots more nuts, dried fruit, tea and water available throughout the day, as well as a € 12,- voucher that comes with your VIP package, to be exchanged at the spa restaurant for lunch) …

... schon praktisch, so ein schwangerer Bauch !

… it IS practical to have a huge belly after all, hehe.

Our “RelaxTagesUrlaub” package covers it all, we just have to take our own swim wear, nothing else. Instead, we walk home with spa gifts, even.

We have already used up the shower & body lotions we’ve received as gifts from the spa brand Vinoble. Besides, the reusable waterproof plastic containers for the wet bathing suits are already proving practical for subsequent (family) use. Vouchers for another visit are also given out, and we take care to use the 15% discount on all spa treatments in the thermal massage area: I treat myself to a classic lymphatic drainage for the relief of my tired legs carrying baby, and my sweetheart prepares for his forthcoming marathon with a small head-shoulder-neck massage …!

Outside, gardeners have started to prep up the spa park for summer …

… and yes, we should come back with baby, don’t you think..?

Then, instead of sharing the spa pools with “everybody else” …

… you get the option of slipping away into the “adults-only” section of the spa, full of dark and cosy corners for snuggling up or just relaxing on your own. The handsome man is not part of the spa deal, however, you will have to bring him yourself …!

Mum-to-be is taking care to spend lots of time relaxing still (this photo was taken right in the middle of my eighth month of pregnancy … a little growth is still to be expected, then!) …

… and daddy-to-be is taking it easy, too, just ahead of his first-ever marathon race the next day …

… thank you, “Therme Wien”, for this rather lovely day trip!

We’ll be back for a swim with baby during summer then …!

Disclaimer: We have been invited by “Therme Wien” to experience their day package “RelaxTagesUrlaub”. All opinions are my own.

Spread the love
